Raymond, NH Roadway Reconstruction
Epping Street, Raymond, NH
Jones & Beach Engineers, Inc. was retained by the Town of Raymond for the land survey and engineering redesign of Epping Street. The roadway is approximately 4,000 linear feet long and required reclamation of the existing roadway, design of a new vertical and horizontal alignment, new drainage system, and separation of the adjacent sidewalk by providing a green strip and granite curbing. We determined drainage areas for catch basins, blended them in with the existing street constraints while adding the detached sidewalk, curbing and street trees. We were also successful in reducing the width of the paved roadway to calm traffic speeds and provide safe harbor for pedestrians.
The funding was from the Town’s Capital Improvement Project and DPW budget. We worked closely during the design phase with the former Public Works Director, Dennis McCarthy, who now works in Rye. The construction project was broken into three phases and the first phase was constructed in 2010 under the oversight of Patrick Bower, P.E., current Public Works Director. The second phase has since been constructed in 2012 leaving only the final phase in 2013.
